Gotten from gloss: If you were asked to pick one scene, one line, one detail, one moment of some kind out of all the stories I've written and say "This, this, for whatever reason, I remember, this is something that struck home with me, that I wanted to keep," what would it be?

I'm currently battling the outline for my Yuletide story and am apparently in need of some positive reinforcement.

(As an aside, it is SO HARD not to talk about my Yuletide story here, y'all. It's either going to be phenomenally evident that I wrote it or nobody will be able to guess because it's so crappy, but either way count on some massive TL;DR about the process once authors are revealed.)

I'm curious, how does the pinch hit thing work? Do they announce fandoms they need writers for on the LJ comm and then you say, "Yo, I can do that one," and point?

It's through a Yahoo mailing list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yuletide_pinch_hit/?yguid=131820605. When you get the pinch-hit in your inbox, the first to claim it gets it. The problem is that, at least with my mail server, the offers often don't end up in my inbox until well after they've been offered and claimed, so your best bet is to keep the yahoo page open and F5 F5 F5 F5 F5...

Not that I'm guilty of doing that or anything.

I told myself that I shouldn't even consider pinch-hitting until my story was in better shape, but what if the perfect prompt gets offered?

For me, it's this passage in AiS:

Cassie leads Mia around in tiny circles to the music. They're doing their best to make it a parody, to mimic every cheesy teenage prom cliche from every cheesy movie, but genuine sentiment creeps around the edges. There's nothing fake about the way that Mia tucks her head into the crook of Cassie's shoulder, or the way that Cassie looks down at Mia with the softest expression Jaime has ever seen on her face.

It really, really struck home with me. Something about the way you wrote Cassie/Mia in that fic is unbelievably gorgeous.

Thank you so much. I wish I'd put thousands and thousands of more words of Cassie/Mia in there. I think that I modeled them slightly after my girlfriend and I? Which makes the romanticism in that passage slightly cheesy, I suppose. :)
